 Halo problems
« Thread Started on Mar 7, 2004, 5:41pm »

I was just wondering if anybody was havving problems running their copies of Halo on the PC. I bought the game a while ago and never really got round to playing it. But I tried to play it today and the game crashed and reset my machine- I had only been on it for a minute- literally.

I tried it a few times- each time it rest, but in different places- but I never got a chance to get past the bit where you first get a pistol.
The game runs smoothly and the graphics and stuff looked fine. My PC should be more than capable of running it- all my specs are way above the recommended ones.

-So has anybody else had this problem, or knows what might help to fix it.

Cheers :o

I haven't messed with Halo PC or have heard about those problems.

I would turn down all the graphics and everything to their lowest position and see what happens after that. If it runs fine, then you can start bumping things up until you begin to encounter more problems.

If that doesn't work, maybe you got a bad copy. :-[

I remember I had this problem with Everquest, when one of the new patches came out, I would be able to get online, walk maybe a few steps, boom crashed game. The only way to fix it was to change some of the proxie settings with help from Sonyeq msg board. What I'm saying is goto the halo pc msg board( they should have one) and check out the troubleshooting area, I bet youre not the only one having this problem.

OK I think, THINK I know what the probelm could be. I now find that my pc either crashes or resets itself with all 'demanding' 3D games, som eearlier ones are fine. And Im pretty surte that its my graphics card over-heating.

The problem is that I got it in a reduced section of PCWORLD and the warranty was only for a few months and that time has passed. Such a simple thing- but I didnt realise in time- foolish me.

Anyways Im going to try out my old graohics card or perhaps get another cheap one from the bargain bin. -Really cant afford new ones, you shall see why in a few days time.

Well I have had so many problems trying to set up an account on eBay- for somereason something always goes wrong with it. QAnd it will either say 'yeah you got an account- but won't let me log in. Or I can log in- but not actually buy anything, because suddenly Im not a member. Or if just says that there was an error while trying to setup the account.

One other problem is that because I have tried a few times- it has logged me into the database as having those accounts so I can no longer try and become a member- it says that 'That member already exists' or something.

So basically I just sit on the sideline watching the great deals go by- which is why I get my friend to use his account if I really need something.
